Homestead-The fastest Way to Build a Web Site! Interfaith Officiants template
From Rev. Melanie Maxell, Pennsylvania

We come to the table not merely to refresh our bodies
but to renew our hearts. We are thankful
for food in a world where many walk in hunger,
for friends in a world where many walk alone,
and for faith in a world where many walk in fear.
O Lord, Thou Sustainer of our body, heart and soul,
Bless all we receive. In thankfulness. Amen

These have been excerpted from the Handbook of Religious Services (highly recommended) published by the Church of the Larger Fellowship, Boston Massachusetts.  To order: www.uua.org/bookstore

  • May the love we share around this table with family and friends renew us in spirit. May the spirit of hope, joy, peace and love dwell within our hearts this day and forever more.   Amen.

  • In the light of love and the warmth of this family, we gather to seek, to sustain, and to share.  Amen.

  • Spirit of Life, our family here assembled is abidingly grateful for the beauty of this place in which we dwell. We are thankful for good food to eat and the health to enjoy it, for the love that binds our lives and sustains our spirits. Amen. (Anthony Friess Perino)

  • May we hold hands quietly for a moment... feeling love flow around us and through us, knowing that as we give it away there is always more here. Amen.

  • O God (Creative Spirit, Mother/Father God, Goddess, Lord, Source of Creation, Allah, Adonai, Master of the Universe - take your pick), we are thankful for this food and for all that nourishes us in life. May we use them with imagination for the life of others. Amen.

  • Bearing in mind that we live our lives at the expense of other life, may we be worthy of the sacrifice. Amen. (Joan Goodwin)

  • May we come to know what is good in us, to use what is good in us, and to share what is good in us with one another. Amen. (Donald T. Marshall)

  • A circle of friends is a blessed thing;
Sweet is the breaking of bread with friends;
For the honor of their presence at our (name event)
We are deeply grateful.
Amen.

  • It is a blessing to be.
It is a blessing to be here.
It is a blessing to be here now.
It is a blessing to be here now together.
Amen.
