Example #1
Officiant says: "Marriage is the bringing together of two circles of love to present a new circle of love. The bride's family and friends have supported her during her life, as the groom's family and friends have supported him through his life. Your love and support does not stop now that they will be married. We ask you, the people here today whose relationships has been honored by your invitation to attend, to bless and nurture the marriage of BRIDE and GROOM. We ask you to offer your loving support through all the days of their marriage (optional - and for the family they will create). If you are willing to do this, please say, 'We will'." Or, “Now that you have heard ______ and _____ recite their vows, do you, their family and friends, promise, from this day forward to encourage them and love them, and to help guide and support them in being steadfast in the promises they have made?” “They answer, "We do.”
Example #2
Although this is their day, it is also a tribute to all of you. For knowing you and interacting with you has helped to make our Bride and Groom who they needed to be to find each other. They would like to thank you all for that. All of you are the threads of which are woven the tapestry of their lives. Each one of you is an important piece in the story it tells. It is the fabric that they wrap around themselves and take comfort in when the world seems cold. And on days like today when everything is right in their world, that tapestry is proudly spread out and displayed for everyone to see, with all the glorious colors and textures that your diversity adds. You all hold a place in their hearts reserved for those that they have chosen to call 'Family' and “Friends” and they are deeply grateful for each and every one of you here today.
Optional: We ask all of you to take a ribbon (or a square of cloth) with you to the reception. There, you will find fabric markers. We ask that you sign your names and a loving wish for the couple, which will then be incorporated into their marriage quilt.
Optional: We will now take this piece of fabric, representing all of the friends and family who have contributed to the couple as individuals, and wrap it around them as a couple. In so doing, their relationship is embraced with the same love that brought them here to their wedding day.
Example #3:
Community blessing of the rings
I hold before me the rings that _____________ and ______________ will be exchanging momentarily. This pillow will be passed around the room, and we ask each of you to offer a silent prayer or blessing of your own for _____________ and ______________s marriage. When the rings have made it around the room, please return them to me so they may be exchanged. (Officiant begins passing the rings around the room.)
Example #4
Now that you have heard _________ and _________ recite their marriage vows, do you, their family and friends, promise from this day forward, to encourage them and love them, and to help guide and support them in keeping the promises they have made?” If you agree, please say, “We do.”
(Wait for response.)
