Serving people and the animals they love.

Written by the Founder, Chaplain Nancy Cronk

Losing a animal companion can be like losing a family member, because to many of us, that is exactly what they are.  Unfortunately, there are few places a person or family can turn to get help in dealing with the grief involved in losing a beloved pet.  An Interfaith Animal Chaplain helps loved ones understand that their grief is normal, and provides emotional and spiritual comfort when it is needed most.  An Interfaith Animal Chaplain (sometimes called a Chaplain for pets or Veterinary Chaplain) offers a compassionate ear while making difficult decisions, a safe place to acknowledge the love and the loss, and provides a spiritual framework which eventually leads to comfort and acceptance.

I am a nondenominational, Interfaith Chaplain who provides pet loss grief support and performs memorial services.  I serve the needs of clients in the southeast metropolitan Denver area, including Douglas County, CO.  I am an animal lover who will come to a clinic to comfort the bereaved, hold hands (and hearts) during surgery or euthanasia, or perform a memorial service at the veterinary clinic, track or barn, or in a park.  My philosophy is gentle and respectful.  As a former teacher, I am extremely sensitive to children in their time of grief.  I have a background in counseling, religious education, and working with families (my BA from the University of Michigan -Ann Arbor is in Psychology.  Please see the website www.InterfaithOfficiants.com for my religious credentials.  I am located under the Colorado Officiants link).  I have had many pets of my own, and I have compassion for the difficult times pet owners sometimes face.

Fees: My work is funded by donation.  For a memorial service, I request a donation of $100 (in the Denver metro area), which includes my basic nondenominational ceremony adapted to include specifics about the beloved animal and their personal story.  I can perform the service at the time of cremation or interment, or at a scheduled time.  For surgery support, spiritual counseling, or euthanasia support, I ask for a requested donation fee of $50 per hour.  These services are available Sunday - Friday, as needed (I perform human weddings on many Saturdays).
